About Me
My background
Hello, my name is Roxie Frausto-Thiessen.
When I was in kindergarten, my favorite time of day was when I was allowed to draw and paint. I became a self-taught artist. But then, as I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study art. Today, use many different mediums, such as watercolors, gouache, acrylics, pastels, pencil, ink, and digital. I believe that working in a single medium can be too is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
I enjoy reading the bible, great inspirational book, watching TV, and Youtube. Creating something from nothing is really exciting to me. My art pieces were usually from my imagination, but in the last few years I have been using references, and sometimes combining that with my imagination. I can create realistic art, but because I have a short attention span, I normally stick with simple, whimsical subjects. But most of all I love drawing, painting, and illustrating subjects that are fun, bright, and whimsical always striving to evoke some sort of beauty in the things created by God, and emotion.
My experience
I loved creating art so much I decided to go to college and learn more. I ended up getting a degree in Fine Art, and that eventually took me towards an Art New Media interest. I then began loving the skill of Graphic Design, and worked in that field for quite a few years.
My vision
I have since retired from Graphic Design and started getting back into creating art, and learning more skills. In the last few years, I also taught art classes to homeschool Jr High, and High school students. I really enjoy teaching art, and I hope to continue to teach more classes in the near future.
